To be Consistent, Obama Must Support Koran Burning

Of course, like most Liberals, Obama is incredibly inconsistent.

First, let me share my perspective:  Is burning the Koran offensive?  Unequivocally, yes.  It is a sacred text, and as with all sacred texts, the followers of Islam believe it represents the divine word of God.  Should the Florida pastor burn the Koran?  No, but the government should not intervene.  Burning a Koran is not illegal, and to stop him would require the suspension of his Constitutional rights.  This is the Conservative argument, and it's the same argument I have made against the proposed "Islamic Center."  The Construction of that mosque is offensive, but the government should not intervene.  Building the Ground Zero mosque is not illegal, and to stop the builders would require the suspension of property rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

In the Koran burning case, Obama has jumped on the bandwagon, and is condemning this preacher's actions.  It's funny though, because he supports the construction of the  Ground Zero mosque.  In that case, his argument went along these lines: the mosque-backers have a Constitutional right to build the Ground Zero Mosque; since their actions are legal, to morally condemn their decision would be un-American.  If we were to apply the same logic and principles to the Koran burning, Obama must arrive at the same conclusion and declare his support.  The Koran-burner has a Constitutional right to burn the Koran; since his actions are legal, to morally condemn his decision would be un-American.

As paradoxical as it may seem, one cannot support the mosque without supporting burning the Koran.  Further, one cannot condemn burning the Koran without also condemning the mosque.  To do otherwise is an admission that your decisions are not grounded in principle.
