Queen Pelosi Flabbergasted as Ground Zero Mosque Swipes Treasure Island Press

Several sites have already covered Nancy Pelosi's call to investigate those who oppose the construction of the Ground Zero Mosque.  While this may be another disturbing affirmation of Pelosi's willingness to use the full weight of the Federal government to silence opposition, it's not surprising.  It fits precisely with her character profile.  What I found far more interesting in the exchange was the following line:

"How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City. [emphasis mine]"

Translation: "This is my press conference, and I don't want to talk about that.  I want to talk about my latest successful land-grab, a parcel which will now be granted in a no-bid contract to a faithful supporter of the Democrat party."  Pelosi can't even bring herself to confront the reality of the mosque controversy.  It's not just a "zoning issue in New York City."  It's about whether it's appropriate to build a mosque in a building struck by one of the plane's landing gear, and the mosque-backers complete unwillingness to even consider relocating the project despite offers from Gov. Patterson to help secure land and building permits.
