He isn't the first to suggest this. Attorney General Eric Holder said the same thing in Florida in the wake of Zimmerman's acquittal. I can't help but wonder if the Secret Service, Capitol Police, and any other security that may be employed by these two men are held to the same standard.

If we're sending a message as a society in our communities that someone who is armed potentially has the right to use those firearms even if there's a way for them to exit from a situation, is that really going to be contributing to the kind of peace and order and security that we'd like to see?
One final note: this press briefing was in response to the Zimmerman verdict. It is difficult to retreat when someone is straddling you and pounding your head into a concrete sidewalk.
